Donnell Baylock aka Mr. Everything was born to a young Diane Baylock in the streets of Chicago. At an early age Donnell had to learn to fend for himself. His mother was always gone to the streets leaving Donnell home for weeks a time to care for his younger siblings.
At the age of 10 Donnell was placed in the care of the state. From the ages of 10 to 18 he was in and out of foster homes, finally finding much of his inspiration from foster mother Mary L. Ball. It was here where Donnell attended Thornridge High School in Dolton, Illinois and found himself immersed in the world of track. During his time in high school, Donnell won numerous awards and was selected as a three time all-state athlete in the sport. He was recruited to Lewis University where he continued to shine his way to All-American status. It was here where his life took many different turns.
In 1997, Donnell’s mother passed away due to Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). He was separated from his kids shortly after that. All of the struggles in his life began to influence the way that he wrote. He moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana and it was here that he helped form Same Mind Entertainment. “Soldier” is the first album for Mr. Everything with Same Mind Entertainment and was produced in Indianapolis, Indiana by Azmyth Recording.
“Soldier” is a mix of many different types of hip hop. There is the flashy, 80’s sounding ladies song “Show You” which is being released as one of the first singles off the album. “Grown Man” has an anthem feeling to it and will appeal to the men and women of the streets. “Soldier”, the title track of the album, is a rock infused rap song that Mr. Everything hopes to use to demonstrate his ability to be versatile and show off his ability to do many different styles of music.
Donnell has opened for many national acts in the previous few years including DJ Unk and Rick Ross. He has performed live in front of numerous audiences and feels most at home behind the mic telling people about the life he has lived and the thoughts that he has. “Soldier” tells the real story of a struggling hustler and track star turned hip hop MC and shows the true talent that Donnell possesses.
