Yael Meyer was born in Santiago, Chile and moved to the United States when she was nineteen. She studied classical piano from the age of five. Growing up she was also heavily influenced by indie folk music from the 70's and pop influences from the 80's and 90's. Her parents, both aficionado artists and musicians encouraged and nurtured her creativity and musicality. At the age 13 she began playing guitar and writing her own songs as well as performing them live in festivals around the city. In 2000, after receiving a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music she moved to the U.S. where she currently resides. She often collaborates with other artists, songwriters and filmmakers. She also plays various instruments including guitar, piano, glockenspiel, bass guitar, percussion and ukulele.Yael's new EP "Heartbeat" was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Tim Myers, Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes). "Meyer has one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard. All 5 tracks of the EP just makes you feel good with her sweet and innocent voice. But that isn't all that makes this album worth a purchase/listen. Ms, Meyer perfectly blends, folk, pop, indie and electronic in one smooth delectable treat."Boom Boom Chick"In the absence of a new Feist album this year (or better, a New Buffalo full-length), the dearth of wry, catchy female folk-pop is beginning to grow as cold and crushing as the oncoming winter. Enter Yael Meyer, a Los Angeles singer-songwriter whose sparkling arrangements and lilting voice raise her above the Hotel Cafe crowd to the air staked out by a certain one-named Canadian." Rawk Blog"...simply-elegant and graceful...The EP sounds like a female version of Death Cab for Cutie meets Jack Johnson..." Loud Dreams"…a blissfully innocent sound…" Knox Road
